Situated in Haus Rottels on the Oberstrasse 58 – 60, the "Rheinische Schützenmuseum Neuss" was founded in 2004. Its aim is to capture the rich tradition of gun clubs and shooting fraternities of the entire Rhineland region. The museum’s archives secure, present, visualise and make their history available to researchers.
At the end of the 18th century, the family Rottels reconstructed the former cloister building into an imposing residence with an associated manufacturing site. The wealth of the family can still be felt today in the rooms of the "Bel-Etage". Visitor’s can take time to experience a bourgeois living culture, a grocery shop, impressions of the Riflemen traditions of Neuss and also temporary historical and -cultural exhibitions reflecting the history of both the city and the region. The historical cave can be rented for private festivities.
