Carnival
In Neuss, throughout the year, high-spirited celebration is part of the feeling of being properly alive, so it is no wonder that the carnival, too, is celebrated with great zest here.
Be it at the "Nüsser Ovend", the traditional display of sharp-edged humour at the Neuss local patriots carnival meeting, or at the numerous balls ("Möhnebälle") held on "Altweiberfastnacht" (the Thursday before Ash Wednesday), or in the Fools' Sunday procession ("Kappessonntagszug") with its floats and gleeful groups afoot in fancy masks.
Dates and times:
- Presentation of the Prince and Princess and Proclamation: November 11th 2006 in the "Zeughaus" (Arsenal)
- Handing-over of the keys and beginning of the City Carnival: February 15th – 21st 2007 on the Market Square
- "Kappessonntagszug" Procession: February 18th 2007
